Today is World Water Day. Yesterday we did some reflecting on all the things we're able to do because we don't have to walk for water and how very fortunate we are to have access to safe water and sanitation services.
Water 1st, a Seattle-based organization is sponsoring Carry5 Walk for Water, a fundraising and awareness building event on May 4th. Ms. Leckie, Ms. Dickens and I are hoping students and families from all three second grade classes will join us in carrying water in support of Water 1st's efforts to raise money for water projects in Honduras, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and India. If you are interested in joining us, please register for the Queen Anne Elementary team here by selecting "join a team". Our team is registered as Queen Anne Elementary.
The Metro bus shelter panels are complete! Ms. Meg did a phenomenal job working with all three second grade classes on these beautiful pieces that will be installed on the bus shelter in front of the brick building this spring. We are immensely grateful to her for helping us create these panels that will help us communicate our learning to the community. Thank you also to Ms. Leland for all of her help with the logistics of transporting the panels to and from Metro. After they are installed we plan to have a celebratory ribbon-cutting of sorts. Please stay tuned.
